I've been working professionally as a sculptor since 2001, but pretty much all my adult life in one way or another I have been making stuff. I started with the hubcaps around 1997 but have embraced other plastics and scrap metal along the way. I'm self taught with the mig welder when it comes to the scrap metal sculptures so the work is not as tidy as it could be but I'm learning all the time...

My inspiration comes from the natural world where I find such a staggering quantity and wealth of exciting ideas that I am already regretting the relatively little amount of time I have left to create.

My biggest challenges come from commissions for creations that would never pass my head - The Queen of England - A saxaphone - A three meter high bee - all of which have tested and matured me (a little bit)

I've got a website www.hubcapcreatures.com - a Facebook page under the name Hubcap Creatures and you can also find me on Twitter and Pinterest if you wish.

Commissions

River Art
These are three of ten sculptures commissioned in 2006 by Anglian Water to promote their 'Rivercare' campaign to encourage people to participate in their waterways clean up community project.
Dragon
This mobile three meter high dragon was commissioned by Dragonheartbeats as a carnival float. It's built on a van chassis and carries a drummer with full drum kit, lights, sounds and fire.
Braintree Birds
These birds were commissioned by Essex County Council to decorate the approach road to a new recycling centre in Braintree. The birds are all made from site-sourced materials including reebar, car panels, foundation shoring and scaffold bar.
Rob's Sculptures
These works were all commissioned by a private client
Ecover Bee 2013
A three month commission for Ecover promoting their new bottle design made from plastic reclaimed from the ocean. The sculpture project culminated in appearances at Glastonbury Festival, The Hampton Court Flower Show and The Eden Project
